Visit the Masjid/ Mosque

A wise mind is one that never stops learning

Masjid Experience

Visiting a masjid/ mosque is an ecstatic experience for most people. We welcome one and all into our masjid/mosque. We consider it as a holy place and treat it as such.

You are welcome to visit the masjid/ mosque, view one of 5 daily prayer services, attend one of our free clases for new Muslims or those interested to learn about Islam, or just converse with the many members of a mosque. If you have any questions, you can also discuss them with the mosque members or the Imam (leader in religious matters)

(Surah 49. Al-Hujurat, Ayah 13)

Ya ayyuha alnnasu inna khalaqnakum min thakarin waontha wajaAAalnakum shuAAooban waqabaila litaAAarafoo inna akramakum AAinda Allahi atqakum inna Allaha AAaleemun khabeerun

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
(Yusuf Ali Al-Qur'an Translation)

What to Wear

When visiting a masjid/ mosque it is considerate and respectful to wear modest, conservative clothing which exposes a minimum of flesh. No shorts or sleeveless shirts on either men or women.

How to Dress for a masjid / mosque
A helpful graphic example of modest clothing, with minimal exposed flesh

Women should wear slacks or a dress or blouse and skirt (at least below the knees), preferably with elbow-length or longer sleeves (no bare shoulders or upper arms), and a headscarf (there are plenty of scarfs at the masjid, if you are entering through women's door, one of the sisters will hand you one if you ask).

A handy garment for women is a light long-sleeved jacket-shirt or jacket with a built-in hood ("hoodie"). Wearing slacks, just raise the hood when you enter the mosque, and you don't need a headscarf!

Men should wear long trousers and a sleeved shirt.

Footwear is not important as you'll be removing it before entering the mosque in any case.
